where happiness lies.

where happiness lies.

why is it that we spend years searching for happiness everywhere?

we destroy our surroundings looking for it…we peel back the layers

we are so desperate to find this light that we never realize where it really lies

i, myself clung to the idea that someone could bring color to the trees

that he could solve all of my problems and sweep me off of my feet

i’ve discovered that there is a hiding place for this thing called happiness

it hides so well that it many times, goes unnoticed and people drown in lonlieness

they don’t know they are drowning, as they are alive and breathing

but what is life without smiling? without hoping or dreaming?

when i found this light, i ripped it open and watched it spill onto my covers

i was suddenly engulfed in this feeling, and i didn’t need another

none of us do. we can walk confidently on our own

i was thrilled to find out i would be okay alone

so for the past nine months, i’ve stayed to myself

i’ve met a couple of nice guys, but i haven’t needed the help

because now i know where the happiness has been hiding all this time

it was buried under my skin and bones, and smaller than a dime

but i’ve been grinning, laughing, twirling and singing

i feel as though every day, i am always winning

happiness is inside of us all

and once you realize that, it will answer to your call

it’s eager to be your friend

it wants to be with you forever, until the very end

you can ignite the fire in your heart

so do your thing, dance your dance or create you art

whoever is meant to fall into your arms will come along

once you’ve learned you can do this alone and you are strong
