little bird

little bird.

hey there, little one, are you ready yet?

you’ve remained in the safety of this nest for so long, please don’t fret

it’s time for you to step on the edge and look out

and for you to find yourself and what you’re really about

you’ve relied on this safe place for too long, my dear

and what has held you back all this time, was the fear

fear of falling, failing and not being able to get back up

please don’t feel that way,  for everything you are is more than enough

you can really make it out there, you have so many gifts

you have the ability to remain steady when the world around you shifts

don’t just sit here, never taking to the air

there’s so much talent that you simply must share

this fear that you have, is an odd thing to have heard

do i have to remind you, darling, that you are a bird?

this poem speaks to me greatly because of what so many of us go through. we are too fearful of falling that we never completely commit. art is so much more than that. if we are passionate about something, we must do our souls the honor of pursuing it. for me, it was writing and taking pictures. since i was very young, i’ve written. it is my therapy, my solace. it is everything.

take flight little bird.
